Farmers Markets

Updates as of 8/01/2011

This year the  Farm Bureau in Paulding County has organized a county-wide, rather than city specific, farmers market program. There are two main objectives for these markets:

  • Farmer/Producer outreach.
    • Not only do we need to support existing farming operations, we need to encourage our younger generation to learn about farming, gardening, and sustainable living techniques.
    • Farmers markets can be a great place for people to connect and become involved in the fresh food movement. It starts with people learning to enjoy real food, and setting an example for others to follow.
  • Community outreach
    • By providing a larger venue, we hope to reach a greater segment of the local community, including under-served and low-income individuals and families.
    • We are working to implement programs, such as an EBT/SNAP based program, that will allow our farmers and producers to provide fresh high quality food to this segment of our community.

How we operate:
  • The Paulding County Farm Bureau Farmers Market will operate two markets per week beginning in May. We plan to run through November 18th, 2011, and possibly open again very early Spring to sell over-wintered produce and other goods.
  • We would like to invite vendors to participate in both markets if possible.
    • To this end, for the 2011 season only, we are only charging a single participation fee of $25.00.
    • We are still accepting applications for both markets. However, vendors who have already applied for the Hiram market will need to resubmit using a PCFB application form (attached).
    • Vendors who want to participate at Hiram will need to sign a separate “Hold Harmless” agreement for the City of Hiram (attached).
    • Hiram vendors who had already paid to participate will need to resubmit payment made out to Paulding County Farm Bureau. All previous payments will be returned to the issuers by Heather Corn.
The Site:
  • Dallas Highway:
    • The market is located at 2515 Dallas/Marietta Hwy., Dallas, GA 30157, at the intersection of Hwy. 92 and Hwy. 120, across from Stars and Strikes.
    • Opening Day is Friday May 6th.
    • The market will run every Tuesday and Friday, from 3:00 - 7:00pm, rain or shine.
  • For those of you who receiving this information for the first time, we are very excited to share this market announcement with you!
    • The Dallas Hwy. market is centrally located at a major convergence intersection, providing vendors with excellent visibility and exposure to heavy home-bound traffic flow from all directions.
    • It is also adjacent to five large subdivisions and near East Paulding High School.
    • We anticipate very heavy volume for this venue!
  • Hiram:
    • We have moved this market to our Dallas lot! As of August 2nd, 2011 we will operate both days in Dallas to allow for vendor expansion and easier access and parking.
This market is for direct growers only, no reselling will be allowed. Farm visits begin shortly to ensure all vendors are producing what they have listed for sale. Visits will continue throughout the season.

All vendors MUST supply copies of any applicable certifications or licenses for your produce/products with your application, and have copies available or displayed in your booth/tent. If you have any questions or concerns about this please contact me.

Thanks everyone for all your help, support, and most importantly your participation! The more people we have involved, the greater the impact we will have.
